Welcome to The RYC Speed Challenge

This challenge calculates your speed rating relative to the wind conditions for your session, the yardstick of your yacht and your max recorded speed.

This means you can set a speed record in conditions you are comfortable sailing in.

For your attempt to be validated we need 3 photos. 

1. A screen shot of the wind conditions measured at South Channel Pile NO MORE than 5 mins before you make an attempt.

2. Another screen shot of the wind conditions NO MORE than 5 mins after you return to shore. It’s important these are done as close to the sailing time as possible.

3. A screen shot of your GPS track you are using to record your Max speed. This can be a phone, watch or any GPS measuring device that can display max speed. If you don't have one, ask around because one can be borrowed for an attempt.

Once you have entered your attempt, please allow a little time for results to be validated and displayed on the live leaderboard. Only the top rated result will be posted on the live leaderboard per helm.

Once your results have been validated and posted on the live leaderboard a competitor is required to notify all other challengers that sit below them on the leaderboard. 

This speed challenge is about participation and fun. Honesty is required by all competitors and shall be attempted in the spirit of yachting and growing participation with friends.
