The challenge is an exciting 15km along some of the most beautiful beaches the Mornington Peninsula has to offer.
The furthest distance you’ll be offshore is approximately 1.5km at around the midway point of the run.
The run is slightly longer than 15km and your time will be adjusted for this distance. If you record slightly more distance the time will be adjusted for you. Any distance measuring less than 15km will not be used.
Directly in front of Rye Yacht Club and Safety Beach Yacht Club NO MORE than 500m off the beach are both the start and end points of this challenge. You choose where you start based on the weather conditions that suit you.
Pick a day that suits you for the type of craft you are wanting to compete in relative to the weather conditions you a safely competent in.
Take out a GPS that can record your time and track. Most people use Garmin Watches, Strava on a phone or their GoPro with the GPS enabled.
This challenge accommodates all types of craft. From yachts, surfskis and SUPs. All can compete on this course.
It is important to understand that you compete in this challenge at your own risk. You must be competent in the conditions you wish to go out in. It is HIGHLY recommended you have a vehicle on shore following your track, you have a mobile phone, all the correct safety equipment that is required and also an epirb.
